Developers are starting to sweat and gamers are getting excited.

News just came down that Rockstar Games still intends to release Grand Theft Auto 6 this November, setting it up for one of the most explosive holiday’s in gaming history.

It’s already widely speculated that GTA 6 will draw in well over $3 billion in revenue it’s first year, according to some investment analysts. It’s the most hotly anticipated game in years, perhaps ever. The hype for this game is palpable.

Now, after Take-Two Interactive’s Quarter 3 Earnings Report confirms the release for November 19th, and a summer marketing blitz, the game world is about to get really interesting. Many companies shift their release dates based on the release of other games, especially high-profile games like GTA 6. It was speculated that this was the reason for some shifts last year, when GTA 6 was supposed to release, but those companies are unlikely to admit to that.

Marketing is set to start this summer, and by all the talk, it seems like it’s going to be aggressive. Rockstar and Take-Two know the hype is real for this game, and they’re leaning all in on it. The second trailer for the game amassed 475 million views within 24 hours, surpassing Deadpool & Wolverine as the biggest video launch.

GTA is Take-Two’s most successful franchise, with GTA 5 and GTA Online still generating revenue for the publisher. There’s only been two trailers released for the game so far, introducing the protagonists Duval and Lucia Caminos and confirming the setting to be in the Florida-inspired fictional state of Leonidas, centering on Vice City.

This could all change, of course, because Take-Two has been confident on a launch before, but the confidence in the earnings report was high, which is a good sign.
