Rockstar Discloses 'GTA 6' Delay Until November 2026

The ups and downs of GTA 6/GTA VI news continue, as the sixth mainline game in the long-running gaming series has been delayed again, from its spring 2026 release date to November 19th, 2026.
The news came shortly before an investor call for Take-Two where they noted that the content updates for GTA Online (connected with GTA 5) will not be disrupted by this delay. The news also comes after dozens of employees were abruptly fired, with sources refuting Take-Two’s explanations for the action by stating the firings were really punishment against many of those employees for discussing forming a union. The gaming industry is notoriously anti-union, but progress has slowly been made in recent years as many smaller teams and sections of gaming companies have been able to form unions.
The timing of this delay to GTA 6 is therefore suspicious, as while Take-Two has framed the delay as necessary to further polish the game, the active protests outside of Rockstar North and Take-Two's UK offices would seem to suggest internal disruptions might also be the reason for the delay.
It is also possible that the delay simply needed to happen, and the firings are not directly related, both occurring at a similar time due to the desire for Take-Two to get ahead of any news for that investor call mentioned earlier. We’ll have to wait and see if there are any more layoffs and if there are any further delays announced in the coming months.
