Zak is Back? The Continuing Story Of Zak Starkey and The Who

We return once again to the continuing story of Zak Starkey and The Who, and it turns out Zak may be back?
As a quick recap, Zak Starkey, son of ex-Beatle Ringo Starr, was reportedly fired from The Who after lead singer Roger Daltrey complained about him “overplaying.” However, that turned out to be a misunderstanding, and Zak was back, or more accurately, he never left. It turned out they just wanted him to adjust his playing, which he agreed to. Unfortunately for Zak, however, he was officially sacked for the US tour, as the group intended to free him up for his own projects. Zak, however, had nothing but time, which was a surprise for the group (lead guitarist Pete Townshend responded with “Oh” when Starkey told him he spent eight weeks in Jamaica finishing projects with his band). It was radio silence for over a year.

Now, Zak may be returning to the group, as he recently rehearsed with the group. Roger Daltrey confirmed as such during one of his solo shows, saying “it sounded great.” Zak shared similar sentiments about the reunion in an Instagram post.
“Lookin forward to tearin it up with the Who again.” Starkey said, “The rehearsal was great.. I don’t think we’ve ever rehearsed as tough as that. Usually we drink tea and talk about what time we’re going home! Fantastic vocal from Roger here on his song ‘Certified Rose.'”
These comments imply the group itself may be reforming for one more tour, and this was confirmed by Daltrey himself:
“We had a rehearsal recently to make sure we can think about doing some shows in Europe because we’ve still got to say goodbye to them and goodbye to some other countries in the world that we had success…and the rehearsal went extremely well and sounded fantastic. So, I mean, it’s not over by any means. It’s just that was the last tour of America for the Who.”
So it seems The Who may have one more tour of Europe left in them, but whether or not this tour will feature Zak Starkey or Scott Devours, Daltrey's solo drummer (who was playing the show where Daltrey made that statement), will be behind the kit remains to be seen.
