Greg Bear, Prolific Science Fiction Author, Has Passed Away At Age 71

Greg Bear, who was a prolific author and a key figure in the development of the major event San Diego Comic-Con, passed away Saturday, Nov. 19. Bear, who was born on Aug. 8, 1951, passed away peacefully in his wife Astrid’s arms. He was 71 years old.

Bear has written sci-fi books within the enormous Halo universe with titles such as Halo: Cryptum, Halo Primordium, and Halo Silentium in the early 2010s. Bear’s other titles include The Unfinished Land, Killing Titan, Hull Zero Three, City At The End Of Time, and Mariposa

Bear was also one of the original founders of San Diego Comic-Con, which had its inaugural event in 1970.

The story followed Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker in the events after The Phantom Menace as Kenobi, still dealing with grief after losing his Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, at the hands of Darth Maul, was tasked with training Anakin, who was 12 years old at the time.
