Nintendo is launching another direct on August 4, 2026, but the focus won’t be on the Ocarina of Time remake. Instead, the studio is dedicating twenty minutes to the upcoming Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave. The game will serve as a prequel to Fire Emblem: Three Heroes and will feature characters like Cai, a young boy who sets out to rescue his father from prison; the swordsman Dietrich, looking to be challenged; Theodora, a queen inspired by her homeland; and the musician Leda, whose current passion is revenge.

Fortune’s Weave is a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive, releasing on September 17, 2026. The official description reads, “Discover an intertwining story of strength and steel.” The Nintendo Direct will stream live on the company’s YouTube channel at 7 am Pacific Time or 10 am Eastern Time. That would be 3 pm for gamers in the UK. Players can choose one of the four characters to compete in the games, make alliances outside the arena, and venture beyond the walls of the city to gain experience and discover treasure. Combat is turn-based and takes into accounts the range of a player’s weapon and strength stats of the team. A release date trailer for the game was revealed at the Nintendo Direct in June.
