In the pantheon of slasher villains, arguably none are more iconic than Michael Myers from the 1978 classic Halloween. Often regarded as the most iconic and influential slasher film of all time, Halloween had dozens of imitators, sequels, and a reboot trilogy in the nearly fifty years since Michael first terrorized the world on the silver screen. Now he’s appearing on consoles.
Now, this isn’t the first time. There was an Atari 2600 game that came out in 1983. However, with the new wave of slasher icon video games, with such villains as Jason, Art the Clown, Pinhead, and Leatherface all getting games, it was time for Michael to join in on the fun. Unlike the others, save for the Pinhead game, this game is unique in that it will feature a single player story mode, alongside multiplayer modes that you can play with either live players or bots. The single player story could help with the game’s longevity, as long as it really captures the feel of the 1978 original. Either way, hopefully it’s just a slashing good time.
Halloween: The Game is set to be released sometime in 2026.
