Remedy Games is gearing up to celebrate its 30th anniversary. The company began in Finland in August 1995 in one founder’s basement. According to Remedy Entertainment co-founder Markus Maki, “We started making video games in a basement in Espoo, Finland, likely because we wanted to escape the long and dark Finnish winters.” He continued, “We found the secret ingredient: an ocean’s worth of coffee, a lot of curiosity, and even a larger dose of passion. Those have kept us going and brought us to this moment, 30 years later. The offices have improved, and the coffee machines even more so. We remain curious and passionate about creating memorable experiences, and we’re eager to see where that takes us. Above all, we are incredibly grateful to all of our fans for taking this trip with us (and for coffee).

As part of the celebration, the founders brought in artist Valentina Paz to create a piece showcasing all of the studio’s original characters. They’re also on track to release a whole line of merch in collaboration with iam8bit. Remedy will revive the Oh Deer Diner thermos as well as sell merchandise based on Control, Alan Wake, and Max Payne. The sale went live on August 20 and 21. The company will partner with Lost In Cult to dive behind the scenes of Alan Wake with a video called Alan Wake: Design Works, which launched on August 18. Finally, next week will see the launch of Remedy Games, a series of YouTube and Twitch streams that will have Remedy Entertainment employees playing through some of the games while talking to those who helped create them. The first of these streams premieres on August 27 to coincide with the sixth anniversary of Control
