This summer is heating up to be one of the biggest for blockbuster movies in some time. Fast X, Barbie, The Little Mermaid, and who can forget, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny?

It’s been over 15 years, longer if you are among the fans who have repressed the memory of it since Crystal Skull was released. Harrison Ford has said this will be his last appearance as the character on screen, and with the character himself looking quite aged, there’s no reason to doubt his statement.

Recently, Ford added to this comment in an interview with Total Film. “This is the final film in the series, and this is the last time I’ll play the character. I anticipate that it will be the last time that he appears in a film,” Ford said. Last year he stated that he would not be involved in a rumored Disney+ TV series about Indy if it were even to happen at all. He describes this last venture as going out not on a whimper but with a bang.

It would certainly come as welcome news to Indy fans that Harrison Ford believes no one else will depict the beloved character. He’s been the face of Indiana Jones and the myriad properties that have spawned since the first film for over 40 years. Many out there can’t imagine anyone else playing the character.

The final installment in the exciting franchise is set to debut on June 30th in theaters everywhere.
