Star Wars legend Harrison Ford made a surprise appearance at the red carpet premiere of Felicity Jones and Joel Edgerton’s movie Train Dreams. The Han Solo actor proved that all actors who have ever been part of the Star Wars galaxy are essentially part of one large family. Felicity Jones, who’s better known as Jyn Erso to Star Wars fans, was in absolute awe of Ford, whom she considers a forefather of the Star Wars universe. Jones said, “That was a real moment for me. Obviously, he’s like the forefather of the whole universe. It’s like meeting my great ancestral figure.” She admits that she was “speechless” when Ford arrived at the premiere of Train Dreams. While preparing to play the lead in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, she studied Ford’s work in Star Wars and Indiana Jones.

She adds, “He was a massive, massive inspiration, particularly what he does in ‘Indiana Jones.’ I watched them over and over and over again because I wanted to have some of that looseness that he has to be in her. It was very special, the worlds colliding tonight.” Joel Edgerton, better known as Uncle Owen, was last seen locking heads with Ewan McGregor in Obi-Wan Kenobi. Edgerton made his debut as Owen Lars in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones. Edgerton and Ford have a history together, and he’s the one who invited Ford to the premiere. They became friends after Edgerton directed Ford in an ad campaign for a whiskey brand. He admits Ford is, “a good enough friend to want to support the film and hang out, and that made me feel very special”.

Train Dreams is based on a novella by Denis Johnson and directed by Clint Bentley. It follows a railroad worker played by Edgerton who lives in the Pacific Northwest during the early 20th Century with his wife, played by Felicity Jones. Edgerton thought that being an outdoorsy man who “lives out in the wilderness in Wyoming and he’s very connected to nature”, Ford would find the movie relatable. Aside from Ford, the Owen Lars actor recently ran into the maker, George Lucas himself, on Saturday at the LACMA Art+Film Gala. He says he “tapped him on the shoulder and was literally like, ‘It’s Uncle Owen.'” Train Dreams releases in select theaters on November 7 and hits Netflix on November 21.
