HBO Max has announced its arrival to the UK (and Ireland) by taking over the capital. HBO placed a trail of installations in the key sites in London. The Friends sofa has taken up residence at Picadilly Circus. At the iconic cinema, The Venue in the same location, the HBO experience with props and costumes from some of their most popular series (including The Last of Us) is free for all visitors. Just around the corner, in Leicester Square, there’s a food truck with a White Lotus themed smoothies and The Sopranos style ziti for sale. But for those closer to the river, the Iron Throne and a dragon skull (from House of the Dragon) can be used for selfies at Potters Fields Park.
From Thursday, 26th March, Brits will be able to purchase the streaming service, with plans starting at £4.99 (Basic with ads). Their sports channel, TNT, can be bought with HBO MAX or as a standalone for £30.99.
Friends has not been available to stream in the UK since it left Netflix in December 2025, so fans of the series will no doubt be clamouring to sign up. But with Paramount+ and Apple TV fighting over the scraps left by Disney+, Prime Video & Netflix, is there room left in the market for another streaming service?
