Jeremy Renner Talks 'Hawkeye' Season Two Potential

Jeremy Renner has had a tough time in recent years. Involved in a terrible snowplow accident on his property in Lake Tahoe, the recovery period that followed was considerable. Then, earlier this year, Renner claimed that penny-pinching accountant-types were behind him being offered a salary he deemed too low for work on a possible second season of the Disney+ show Hawkeye. He subsequently rejected the supposed offer.
But now, Renner is singing a much more earnest tune about his place in the MCU. In a discussion with Empire Magazine, he eagerly reiterated his commitment to the billion-dollar franchise and noted that he has continued to recover physically from that snowplow incident. He even noted how happy he’d be to do a Hawkeye Season 2, and how his body is up to the acrobatic fighting style his character has often displayed on screen.
This discussion comes as something of a surprise, given the aforementioned rejection of a place in a supposed Hawkeye Season 2 due to a lower-than-desired salary. It may be that Renner is regretting that choice as the MCU moves forward with its next two huge ensemble films, Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars, with what are surely significant paydays for multiple actors beyond just Robert Downey Jr. Or perhaps this is simply him reassuring the world of his complete recovery in the wake of that terrible accident. Hopefully, Renner can get his wish and participate in some future continuation of Hawkeye, be that within Season 2 or another character’s show.
