Lucasfilm is ramping up excitement for The Mandalorian and Grogu with a newly released promo video on the official Star Wars YouTube channel.
Clocking in at just under two minutes, the video is styled like the behind-the-scenes roundtables previously featured on Disney+ for the first two seasons of The Mandalorian. It brings together director Jon Favreau, Pedro Pascal, Sigourney Weaver, and a life-size Grogu puppet - likely the same one seen at the recent Oscar celebration - which charmingly reacts as Pascal pets its head.
Favreau and Pascal reflect on how Din Djarin’s relationship with Grogu has evolved over the series. What began as a simple bounty hunter job has transformed into a deep bond, with Din acting as Grogu’s protector until the little guy is ready to stand on his own in the upcoming film.
Sigourney Weaver offers a glimpse into her character as an officer in the New Republic, searching for someone she can trust to help her prevent another war rather than take revenge on the remnants of the Empire.

Favreau also shares his creative goals for The Mandalorian and Grogu: to recapture the sense of wonder he felt when first experiencing Star Wars, and to use every filmmaking tool at his disposal to bring that magic to life.
The discussion is intercut with footage from the film, most of which was already included in the teaser and trailer, but also some new shots, like that of a mysterious character that resembles a modified battle droid, a group of AT-AT pilots, and some of the small BDX droids, first introduced in Galaxy’s Edge.
Additional behind-the-scenes shots reveal that the sets of the film have vastly expanded beyond the confined spaces of the Volume, also hinting at the broader visual scope of the film that will also be released on IMAX.
The Mandalorian and Grogu arrive in theaters on May 22.
