One of Hollywood’s most enduring movie stars has found his next project! Keanu Reeves is currently in talks to star in James Wan’s upcoming remake of The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil!
The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil is a 2019 Korean film that centers on a gangster and a cop who team up to take down a serial killer. The original film stars Don Lee as Jang Dong-soo, a role he’ll reprise in the remake. Keanu Reeves has remained one of the most iconic movie stars of all time. His signature roles include Ted in Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and its subsequent sequels, Scott Favor in My Private Idaho, Johnny Utah in Point Break, Jack Traven in Speed, Neo in The Matrix franchise, and the titular John Wick. His most most notable recent roles include playing himself in Always Be My Maybe, Johnny Silverhand in the video game Cyberpunk 2077, and the voices of Duke Caboom in the Toy Story franchise and Shadow the Hedgehog in Sonic the Hedgehog 3.
The Gangster, The Cop, The Devil will be James Wan’s first movie since 2023. Best known for his work in horror, Wan was a major architect for the Saw franchise, the Insidious saga, and The Conjuring Universe. Directing the first installments (the first two in the case of Insidious and The Conjuring), Wan has garnered a reputation as one of the most reliable horror directors of all time. He directed the original horror film Malignant in 2021. On the blockbuster side, Wan helmed Furious 7 and Aquaman, which were critical and financial successes and grossed over a billion dollars. Furious 7 currently sits as the third highest-grossing film in Universal’s history (under The Odyssey and Jurassic World), while Aquaman sits as the third highest-grossing movie in Warner Bros. history (under Barbie and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2). Wan is also attached to a remake of Creature of the Black Lagoon.
