Kevin Feige has his eyes set on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), all the way to 2042. In an interview with Chinese outlet Watching Hollywood, Feige confirmed that Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will be the conclusion of plots that started before the MCU. Feige explained, “We want to do two things. First, to bring some storylines to a close, those that started long before Iron Man, including the original X-Mencharacters. Second, to simultaneously set the stage for the future.” Secret Wars will tie up loose threads and be a sort of reset for the MCU to go in a new, less intricate direction.
Feige continued, “Avengers: Endgamewas truly an end, and since then, we’ve tried and experimented with many new things. But [Secret Wars] is a beginning. It will establish a streamlined, simplified, single universe that audiences can keep up with. Some things will be familiar, but many, many things will be entirely new.” Much of this Marvel reset will focus on the X-Men characters. However, there is also the opportunity to resurrect some heroes, like Iron Man, using different actors.

Another hero that Feige is interested in including is Miles Morales. In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Electro expresses disappointment that Spider-Man isn’t black, hinting at the Afro-Latino character. Feige citing this moment from the film said, “We definitely have plans, and I think a live-action Spider-Man movie has this destiny: to add Miles sometime after the Spider-Verse series ends. We've been thinking and discussing more Spider-Man adventures, regardless of agreements or contracts.”
Feige then confirmed that he and production partner Amy Pascal has already stated brainstorming the next few Spider-Man movies. Other Marvel projects in the planning stages include an X-Men reboot, a Novamovie that was initially going to be a series, a potential Shang-Chi 2 and a possible Black Panther 3. The last three movies of the multiverse saga are next week’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day, November’s Avengers: Doomsday, and 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars.
