Laika Studios, the team behind Coraline and ParaNorman, released a trailer for their latest stop-motion film, Wildwood. The story follows a young girl on a quest to rescue her brother from a fairy tale world of magic and talking animals. The official website describes Wildwood as “a tale of love, loss, sacrifice, and secrets, and of the magic you can find on your doorstep, if you’re willing to look for it.”
The trailer opens with Prue playing with her baby brother Mac while her parents warn her not to take him outside. The trailer then cuts to her pulling Mac in a wagon through town and is interspersed with shots of a boy standing on a balcony in the rain, crying black ink. After Mac is taken by a group of crows, Prue enlists the help of her classmate Curtis. The shot cuts to an enchanted forest with a man on horseback, a wolf army, and a mansion with all kinds of talking animals. In the next scene Prue is riding a mysterious creature through the clouds, Curtis is surrounded by crows, and a witch with glowing eyes appears. Prue is shown with bloody knuckles while riding her bike, and the boy from earlier rips his skin to show gears underneath. Wildwood lands in theaters on October 23, 2026.
