Collider reports that the MCU has found its writers for the introduction of the latest iteration of the X-Men.

When catching up with director Jake Schreier, who did 2025’s Thunderbolts* and is currently on a press tour for the second season of Beef from Netflix, Collider’s Steve Weintraub asked him about the process of developing the X-Men for the MCU. Planned to come sometime after Avengers: Secret Wars, the film has been shrouded in mystery, until now.

Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo are the writers named as having been tapped to help bring the X-Men to the big screen for this newest film, and it makes sense. Both have been involved in work for Beef with Schreier and in subsequent comments, Schreier made clear his admiration for their styles of writing, and how each brings something different to the table. Granted, the draft these two writers might be putting together could get set aside by Disney, as is often the case behind the scenes of big Hollywood projects, though this is still an encouraging update.

2026 looks to be a successful year for Marvel, with Avengers: Doomsday coming at the end of the year while their Disney+ shows, Wonderman and Daredevil: Born Again, both appear to be performing well. While Marvel’s newest iteration of the X-Men is definitely not coming this year, it overall seems like the MCU is on a good track with its incoming projects.
