'The Batman Part II' Adds Sebastian Stan As Harvey Dent, Scarlett Johansson, And Andy Serkis' Returning As Alfred

It is not the first time that actors cross over from Marvel to DC, but The Batman II will feature quite a few MCU royalty: Aside from Andy Serkis, who is returning as Alfred Pennyworth, the sequel to the highly successful film from 2022 with a global box office of more than $772 million will feature Sebastian Stan (Winter Soldier) as Harvey “Two-Face” Dent and Scarlet Johansson (Black Widow). Although Johansson’s role is still undisclosed, there are rumors that she might play Gilda Gold, the wife of Dent and one of the film’s antagonists.
For both Serkis and Johansson, participating in The Batman II required a significant amount of schedule juggling. After last year’s blockbuster Jurassic Park: Rebirth, she joined the cast of Mike Flanagan’s remake of The Exorcist in December.

In addition to the Batman sequel, Serkis is currently working on Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, after directing the animated film Animal Farm, which opens on May 1. Despite all these plates on his table, he is confident to be able to do both Gollum and Alfred. In fact, Serkis said, “I’m pretty certain it’s all going to work out. Yeah, we’re working on it, but I think it’s all looking good.”
Due to his commitment, Serkis won’t join The Batman II right from the get-go, when shooting starts later this year, but he will be there “by the end of the year”.
Aside from Johansson, Stan, and Serkis, The Batman II, which is once again written and directed by Matt Reeves, will feature Robert Pattinson as the titular character, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, and Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon.
The film, which was announced in April 2022, is set for a release on October 1, 2027, roughly two and a half months before The Hunt for Gollum hits theatres.
