'Loki' Season 2 Is The First MCU Series With No Reshoots

The first season of Loki hit the platform with a bang, following up the plotline Avengers: Endgame started, and developing the titular character in a way fans hadn’t seen before. Loki became the most-watched MCU original series on the platform in 2022. Season two has been highly anticipated for a while now, and has already set an interesting record of its own: no reshoots were conducted during production.

In an interview with Variety, executive producer Kevin Wright explained, “This is maybe — not maybe — this is the first Marvel series to never have any additional photography. The story that is on screen is the story we set out to make. We went out there with a very specific idea of what we wanted this to be, and we found a way to tell it in that production period. It’s very much what’s on-screen on Disney+.” They had a plan, a story to tell, and they followed through to a T.

This confirms that Jonathan Majors’ scenes were not reworked in the form of reshoots. When questioned if they considered changing anything following the charges Majors is facing, Wright stated, “No. And that mainly came from — I know as much as you do at the moment. It felt hasty to do anything without knowing how all of this plays out.” October is a key month for several dates regarding the case, including the next hearing towards the end of the month; more information will follow.

Season two of Loki officially comes out on October 5, 2023, exclusively on Disney+. This season picks up where the last one left off. Loki, joined by a crew of new and familiar characters, has to navigate the multiverse as they race to handle the consequences of season one. There will be six episodes in total, one episode dropping every Thursday at 9 pm ET.
