The upcoming animated Disney+ series Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord has many fans abuzz with excitement. The series is set several years into the Imperial era of the galaxy, following the titular character as he attempts to re-establish the crime syndicate he lost after Ashoka Tano defeated him in a battle. Maul - Shadow Lord will premiere on April 6, 2026, on Disney+. The series will consist of 10 episodes in total, with two episodes released each week. In an interview on StarWars.com, several cast members were introduced, sharing their thoughts on the show and their roles.
Actor Sam Witwer is returning to voice the titular character. He has previously portrayed Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. As a premise to the series, Witwer posed the question, “With Maul, we've seen his beginnings and we have the ending. What happened to him in between?” He continued, “For me, it was the promise that we were going to dig into [Maul] and answer the questions of how he changed so drastically into the Rebels version of the character.” Witwer’s other roles include various appearances in Star Wars projects, Rupert Chipping in Riverdale, Deacon St. John in the 2019 video game Days Gone, and Davis Bloome in Smallville. He is bringing extensive experience in the industry and character to the project.

Gideon Adlon will voice former Jedi Padawan Devon Izara. The actress described her character, “Devon Izara is a Jedi in a post-Order 66 world and she is filled with angst.” While her career is somewhat fresher, Adlon's experience is varied. She previously appeared as the voice of Pak Relda in Young Jedi Adventures. Other roles include Batgirl in the second and third parts of Justice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths, Reika in Terminator Zero, Abby in Ghosts, and Denise in Under the Boardwalk (2023).
Other members of the cast include Stephen Stanton as Marg Krim, Vanessa Marshall as Rook Kast, Richard Ayoade as Two-Boots, and Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson. The series was created by Dave Filoni.
