A long-awaited musical reunion has come at last! Variety has confirmed that Academy Award-winning film and TV composer Michael Giacchino will reunite with fellow Oscar winner Brad Bird on his newest film, Ray Gunn. While Giacchino’s involvement has been rumored over the last few years, we finally have confirmation.

Brad Bird has remained one of Giacchino’s most frequent and fruitful collaborators. They linked up for the first time in 2004 on The Incredibles, which was Giacchino’s first score for a major feature film. The score received mass acclaim and remains of Giacchino’s most known and beloved scores. Since then, Giacchino and Bird have collaborated on Ratatouille, Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, Tomorrowland, and Incredibles 2

In addition to Brad Bird, Giacchino has frequently collaborated with other big-name directors, including J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Taika Waititi. He’s lent his talents to many notable franchises, including Star Wars, Star Trek, Jurassic World, Mission: Impossible, Planet of the Apes, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Aside from Ray Gunn, Giacchino has also been confirmed to provide the scores for Destin Daniel Cretton’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day(his 8th score for Marvel Studios) and David Robert Mitchell’s The End of Oak Street. Giacchino is also rumored to score Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun and J.J. Abrams’ The Great Beyond, but nothing has been confirmed on those fronts just yet.
