Netflix Announces 'Stranger Things: Tales From '85' Animated Story

The popular Stranger Things Netflix series is due to wrap up by the end of this year with its fifth and final season. However, Netflix’s hit horror-science fiction series set in fictional Hawkins, Indiana in the 1980s is not necessarily going away. In fact, in 2026, the creators of the series, the Duffer Brothers and Netflix, will be launching an animated spin-off series, Stranger Things: Tales from ‘85.
The series, featuring an original story, will neither be a prequel series, nor a sequel series but rather a “midquel” series, set during the winter of 1985, between the events of seasons 2 and 3 of the live-action series. The Duffer Brothers have expressed their excitement about the project:
We’ve always dreamed of an animated ‘Stranger Things’ in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling.

The series will feature a whole new cast of actors to voice the characters from the live-action series. The cast includes Brooklyn Davey Norstedt as Eleven, Jolie Hoang-Rappaport as Max, Luca Diaz as Mike, Ej (Elisha) Williams as Lucas, Braxton Quinney as Dustin, Ben Plessala as Will, and Brett Gipson as Hopper. Other big names on the cast include Odessa A’zion, Janeane Garofalo, and Lou Diamond Phillips.
