With the final season of Stranger Things mere months away, its creators, Matt and Ross Duffer, have set their sights on a new home for the next chapter of their careers, as it was recently revealed that the two will be making the move from Netflix to Paramount as part of a major production deal.
This decision to leave Netflix stems from the Duffer Bros. hope of returning to their creative roots to produce theatrical films, something that is incredibly rare for Netflix releases outside their Oscar contenders. To this date, the Duffers have only produced a single film, the psychological thriller Hidden. The two will be partnering with executives Dana Goldberg and Josh Greenstein. Greenstein recently made the jump to Skydance from Sony Entertainment.
While the Duffers will be leaving Netflix, its clear that they will continue to be involved with the Stranger Things franchise through Upside Down Pictures, which is working on a slate of new shows at Netflix, including two Stranger Things spinoffs, the animated series Tales from ‘85, along with a currently-unannounced live-action series.
The Final Season of Stranger Things arrives on Netflix in three parts, airing on November 26th, December 25th and December 31st.
