Netflix Purchased A DC Drama Series That Won’t Fit Into James Gunn And Peter Safran’s DC, But DC Remains With Warner Bros.

The DC drama series Dead Boy Detectives is moving to rival streaming service Netflix. Originally planned to arrive on HBO Max, Warner Bros. Television allowed Netflix to take it owing to the series not fitting with the plans of DC executives James Gunn and Peter Safran. It has also been said that no marketing for the show would have taken place for the series until 2024.

The plans of Gunn and Safran have seen numerous series affected, with Pennyworth being cancelled. Greg Berlanti series Doom Patrol and Titans have also seen cancellations, with his Green Lantern series now taken over by Gunn and Safran. However, Dead Boy Detectives has a good chance of success being sold to Netflix, as Berlanti-produced drama You became a success following its sale to Netflix.

Said to be a fresh take on a ghost story that explores loss, grief, and death, Edwin Payne (George Rexstrew) and Charles Rowland (Jayden Revri) join their living friend Crystal Palace (Kassius Nelson) on this crazy ride through the supernatural.

Gunn and Safran’s plans for DC Studios involve five series and five feature films, all coming under the label of Chapter 1, titled Gods and Monsters.
