Netflix has officially released the first teaser trailer for The One Piece, the highly anticipated anime remake of Eiichiro Oda’s legendary pirate saga. Produced by WIT Studio, the new series is set to premiere exclusively on Netflix in February 2027 (exact launch date pending), offering fans a fresh retelling of the story that launched one of the most successful manga and anime franchises of all time.
The teaser revisits the beginning of Monkey D. Luffy’s adventure, opening with the iconic words of the Pirate King, Gold Roger, before introducing Luffy and the early members of the Straw Hat Pirates. Featuring new animation and updated visuals, the remake reimagines the beginning of the One Piece storyline, the East Blue Saga, while remaining faithful to the original manga.
Unlike the long-running anime adaptation from Toei Animation, which began in 1999 and now comprises more than 1,100 episodes of varying quality, The One Piece aims to deliver a more streamlined viewing experience. The first season will consist of just seven extended episodes with a combined runtime of approximately five hours. These episodes will adapt the first 50 chapters of Oda’s manga, covering the East Blue storyline, and will be released simultaneously on Netflix rather than on a weekly schedule.

The streaming giant is no stranger to the adventures of Luffy and his pirate gang, as it has released two successful seasons of a live-action adaptation of One Piece, and a third season has already been ordered. There are also several LEGO One Piece sets available.
WIT Studio, best known for its work on acclaimed anime such as Attack on Titan and SPY x FAMILY, is leading the project. Studio president George Wada has previously explained that the remake is intended to make the story more accessible for modern audiences.
The trailer also confirmed that Mayumi Tanaka, the legendary 71-year-old voice actress, will reprise her role of Monkey D. Luffy from the original animated series, creating a sense of continuity for Netflix’s remake.
With its first trailer now available and a February 2027 release confirmed, The One Piece is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s biggest anime premieres of the year, likely bringing a new generation aboard the Straw Hat Pirates’ adventures.
