As The Rings of Power begins production, three new cast members join the ranks. Andrew Richardson will be a series regular while Zubin Varla and Adam Young will play recurring characters. Richardson made a name for himself in the world of theater, starring in shows such as Guys & Dolls, Uncle Vanya, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Varla made recent television appearances in Andor, Deep State, Will, and Our Girl. Young previously worked on Masters of the Air, EastEnders, The Witcher: Blood Origin, and Sex Education. No details of the Rings of Power roles, including character names, have been shared with the public.

Charlie Vickers, Morfydd Clark, Robert Aramayo, Ismael Cruz Cordova, Charles Edwards, and Markella Kavenagh will reprise their roles of Sauron, Galadriel, Elrond, Arondir, Celebrimbor, and Nori. Robert Strange is also returning but has played a variety of roles, so it’s unclear if he will reprise an old one or take on several new ones. The Rings of Power focuses on the Second Age of Tolkien’s Middle-earth, particularly on how Sauron forges the titular rings. The third season will focus on the war between the Elves and Sauron that is referenced at the beginning of the first Lord of the Rings film. No release date has been set yet, but production began in May 2025 at their new base of Shepperton Studios in the United Kingdom.
