At the Annecy Animation Festival, Pixar Chief Creative Officer Pete Docter revealed more info on the next two years of Pixar projects. Including announcing a new film. Opening with a preview showcase for Elio, which comes out later this month, the new film was revealed as Gatto.

From the team that produced Luca, Gatto makes a return to Italy. In Venice, a black cat named Nero starts questioning the life he’s been living. Indebted to a feline mob boss, Nero will befriend a street artist named Maya. Finding his true love in life is good, but the dark, mysterious side of Venice could strike out at him at any time. Along with the plot, animation tests were also revealed, showing a blend of 2D hand-painted textures and cutting-edge CG animation. Bringing to life the Venetian settings with rich colours. This summer 2027 film will be directed by Enrico Casarosa, with Andrea Warren as producer.

Teasers were also provided for Daniel Chong’s Hoppers and Toy Story 5. Showing off the girl-turns-beaver ecological adventure and the next chapter of Woody, Buzz, and Jessie. For Hoppers, wanting to protect her favourite local pond, Mabel steals technology that allows her consciousness to transfer into a robotic beaver. Allowing her to uncover mysteries of the animal kingdom, she could never have dreamed of. For Toy Story 5, Bonnie is now eight years old. Now with a toy tablet, the toys find that her attention is no longer with them.
