Nicolas Cage has seen a sort of renaissance these last few years. The actor went from straight to streaming back to big hits such as Renfield, Longlegs, and even got to finally appear as Superman in The Flash. That momentum has refused to stop, with it now being reported that the actor is currently in talks to star in True Detective Season 5.
Variety was the first to break the news as they learned through private sources that Cage is close to a deal with Warner Bros. for the starring role. If he were to secure this top spot, he would join a long list of famous names who have starred in the HBO series. The first two to lead the series were Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson, who would go on to win Emmys for their portrayal. They were followed by names such as Rachel McAdams, Vince Vaughn, Colin Ferrell, Jodie Foster, and Mahershala Ali; Foster and Ali would also go on to win an Emmy for their roles.
