Obama's Higher Ground Company Teams Up With Disney+ To Produce Animated Fantasy 'Journey'

Disney is teaming up with former President Barack Obama and Michelle’s Higher Ground for a new animated series, Journey on Disney Plus. The music-driven series will focus on the main character Journey, as she seeks to restore the town’s protective energy shield. Along the way, she’ll discover her own special magic and investigate her father’s disappearance. Matt Munn is the show creator and executive producer with Steve Loter and Jessie Dicovitsky as executive producers for Higher Ground.
In the deal, Higher Ground will collaborate with Disney Kids & Family to create the show. President of Disney Kids & Family Ayo Davis described the project, “Journey is an epic adventure anchored by a remarkable young heroine whose courage inspires those around her. At its core, it’s a story about resilience, self-discovery and the power of believing in something bigger than yourself.” Dicovitsky, Higher Ground Head of Television added, “Combining adventure, imagination and music, Journey is a true original that takes bold swings. We’re proud to partner with Disney on this fantastical series and to build on Higher Ground’s history of delivering fun and meaningful stories for kids and families.” Journey is still a working title, and the series has no announced release date yet.
