Warning: Spoilers For X-Men ‘97 Season One

With Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday coming later this year, the studio is turning its focus on the small screen. The studio just released a trailer for Season Two of X-Men ‘97. The X-Men are recoiling from Gambit’s death and are stranded at different points in time. The main villain in all ages is Apocalypse. Viewers will see him in the ancient world finding himself, in the present age enacting his plan, and in the future with his plan fulfilled. According to Marvel.com, the season “continues with the heroic mutant team of X-Men, divided and thrown across different eras in time as they struggle to navigate their return home. Meanwhile, back in the 1990s, suspicious foes and new strains of mutant intolerance are on the rise in the wake of the X-Men’s absence.”

The trailer opens with Rogue mourning Gambit’s death. Then the trailer pans to shots of Apocalypse in ancient and future times when he homes in on the 1990s as the most vulnerable time for the X-Men. Apocalypse tells the heroes, “You fight a battle that cannot be won against the dawn of an age that cannot be stopped.” Rogue tells the team, “It’s about everyone we lost.” Nightcrawler rallies the team and expresses his belief in them. The trailer gives viewers a final shot of the X-Men squaring up for battle and reveals the release date. X-Men ‘97 Season 2 releases on July 1 on Disney+. Check out the trailer below.
