Steven Knight has just given us an update about one of his latest projects. A sequel series to his Peaky Blinders series, set in Great Britain around 1953, has gotten a two-season order from the BBC and Netflix, with star Cillian Murphy on board as an executive producer. The plot description is, “After being heavily bombed in WWII, Birmingham is building a better future out of concrete and steel. In a new era of Steven Knight’s ‘Peaky Blinders,’ the race to own Birmingham’s massive reconstruction project becomes a brutal contest of mythical dimensions. This is a city of unprecedented opportunity and danger: with the Shelby family right at its blood-soaked heart.”

Peaky Blinders was a historical crime drama series, loosely based on a real gang. Taking place in post-World War II Birmingham, the series centered on a family of Romani and Irish Traveller origins and the titular gang, led by Thomas "Tommy" Shelby, as played by Cillian Murphy. Lasting from 2013 to 2022, the show was broadcast by the BBC before being exported worldwide by Netflix, bringing the show to international fame. Creator Steven Knight would later go on to write a movie based on the series entitled The Immortal Man, which has yet to be released.
