The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson as the titular Dark Knight, served as a gritty, early depiction of Bruce Wayne in the early stages of protecting Gotham City as Batman. Starring alongside him was Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, a dark mirror of what could have befallen Bruce had he not been protected by his family's wealth after his parents' murder. After the two teamed up to fight the Riddler, speculations of who else Batman (Pattison) would be teaming up with started to swirl around production. According to Deadline, DC Studios boss James Gunn went online to “dispel a rumor” that Batman's orphaned sidekick Robin (Dick Grayson) will make his debut.
As Gunn stated to fans on the internet, “Guys please stop believing this nonsense. I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about The Batman 2.” Given this strong response, Gunn further clarifies that any information about The Batman 2 that isn't from him or DC Studios is, at best, fan theories and speculations. These "guesses" and "made up" theories have the potential to be verified in the final script, which was completed in June of this year. Nonetheless, fans of the Batman Epic Crime Saga will see the second The Batman film appear on screens on October 1, 2027, after a year-long delay. Without Robin/Dick Grayson, the story has the potential to be anything.
