'Saint Seiya' Singer Nobuo Yamada Loses Battle Against Kidney Cancer

We regret to inform you that anison singer Nobuo Yamada, also known as NoB, passed away on August 9 at 1:39 p.m. (Japan Standard Time) at the age of 61. The news had been reported by a variety of sources, including MOJOST, Yamada’s agency. He had been struggling with kidney cancer for a long time. A private funeral has already been held by Yamada’s family, and a farewell party for fans will be held on as yet to be determined date. Fans, colleagues, and other musicians have sent their condolences, including Hideaki Takatori. Nobuo Yamada will be missed by many.

Nobuo Yamada was born on January 20, 1964, in Osaka, Japan. He began his music career in 1983 as lead singer of the band MAKE-UP; their most famous song was Pegasus Fantasy, the first opening to the anime series Saint Seiya, based on the Manga by Masami Kurumada. As a solo artist, Nobuo Yamada was famous for singing the opening themes to the Super Sentai series, including GoGo Sentai Boukenger, Tensou Sentai Goseiger, and the mini-series Super Sentai Strongest Battle. Yamada had been diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2018 and had been struggling with it for seven years. He may be gone, but his music will live on.
