Over the years, LEGO has released several versions of the Death Star, or at least certain sections of it, some primarily for play, while others were more intended for display.

If longstanding rumors are true, the famous brick company will soon (and soon means in October) release a new version of the Empire's most devastating super-weapon, which is definitely not intended for playing with.

Part of the company's Ultimate Collector Series and with the ID 75419, the set will cost a hefty $1,000 and comprise 9,023 pieces, which would make it the fourth biggest LEGO set behind the 11,000-piece LEGO Art World Map, LEGO Icons Eiffel Tower, and LEGO Icons Titanic sets.

While both the price and the number of pieces are "most impressive," there is a catch: According to leaked photos, the set will only comprise one half of the Death Star, i.e, a cross-section, cut vertically.

Inside the battle station are several iconic scenes from both the first and the second Death Star (which makes the model technically non-canonical):  the throne room, the trash compactor, the chasm that Luke and Leia swung across, a hangar with a complete model of a Lamda class shuttel and of course the laser and the laser control room.

The set also comes with 32 minifigures: aside from the heroes Luke, Han, Leia, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, there are the Emperor, Darth Vader, Director Orson Krennic, Galen Erso, Grand Moff Tarkin, Admiral Motti, General Tagge, Colonel Wullf Yularen, insectoid protocol droid 5D6-RA-7, a Death Star Gunner, Imperial Royal Guards, Imperial Crew Members, Stormtroopers (including a Hot Tub Stormtrooper variant) and Imperial Dignitaries that come with a new head piece.

Reactions to the leaked set (which LEGO has not officially announced yet) have been mixed, with some praising the level of detail while others complained that for $1000, you could have expected a complete Death Star and not just one half of it.
