Smiling Friends fans rejoice, as the premiere date has been set for season 3. The series gained a massive following after its first two seasons, where it blended absurdity with what felt like everyday, casual, natural conversation. While there have been small bits here and there to fill fans’ appetites, the question has remained as to when full fifteen-minute episodes could be expected again. Now, Adult Swim has revealed the new season is right around the corner.
Smiling Friends will return with season 3 on October 5th, 2025. Of course, Zach Hadel and company will all return to reprise their roles as Charlie, Pim, Allen, and the rest of the gang. Another familiar name will also be joining back in on the fun, as Mr. Frog is confirmed to return this season in all his chaotic glory. In the lead-up to this new season, the cast and crew have been posting shorts on TikTok labeled Smiling Shorts. These have included a surgery Pim had to make his eyes smaller, which he was proud of until Charlie told him that his bigger and smaller eyes were his thing, as well as the conclusion of a smiling conquest in which Charlie and Pim are pick-pocketed by Roy Dismey. Needless to say, these shorts prove that fans can expect nothing less in quality than what they’ve already had.

Any questions about future seasons can be put to rest for the time being. The Hollywood Reporter confirmed in June that Smiling Friends had been renewed for up to two more seasons, meaning viewers can expect at least five seasons in total. This season, Zach Hadel promises a huge return for Mr. Frog this time around, which sounds as though it will completely focus on the character. Zach said, “… the best part is, now we can make a whole episode about a secondary character and zoom in on them more and explore the town.” How this will all play out will have to wait until October 5th, when Smiling Friends returns to Adult Swim and the next day streaming on HBO Max.
