Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse has a new release date. Instead of releasing on June 4, 2027 as originally planned, the movie will hit theaters on June 25, 2027. The reason for this change is at the later date all U.S. schools will be on summer break instead of only 65% during the initial release date. The new date also shows some promise in international markets. The first film in the trilogy, Into the Spider-Verse, won an Oscar and made $393.6 million in the global market. Its sequel Across the Spider-Verse blew its predecessor away with $690.5 million in global earnings.
Across the Spider-Verse ended on a cliff-hanger that fans have been waiting for years to resolve. However, at CinemaCon, creator Phil Lord hinted at the movie’s future. He explained that the third film would begin with Miles Morales as a fugitive being hunted down by all the other Spiders. He teased, “Gwen and his other friends may not be enough to help him save the family that’s been the leading part of the entire system.” Bob Persichetti and Justin K. Thompson will direct the film with a script by Lord, Chris Miller, and David Callaham. In the meantime, the first film can be rented on most streaming platforms while the second is available on Disney Plus.
