Somehow… Kylo Ren returned. This year has proven to be a big one for Star Wars fans, and the announcements and releases keep coming. Disney continues to shift focus from the future of the sequel era they built, instead turning towards filling the cracks leading up to it and everything in between. From The Mandalorian and Grogu to The Ninth Jedi, movie and TV audiences have had plenty to take in from the galaxy far far away. Now, it’s the readers’ turn as Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren is set to release this summer.
First reported by Collider, Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren will take place following the events of, “The Last Jedi and leads directly into The Rise of Skywalker, showing Kylo Ren cutting through the schemes of Generals Hux and Pryde while ushering in a new era of power in the First Order.” The images released to Collider, show Kylo Ren’s return to the generals as they are in the midst of losing a battle. Hux and Pryde appear to be taking differing approaches, causing strain and division that is weakening them in the battle. After cutting through the rebels, Kylo Ren gathers with Hux and Pryde to make it known that his return means the end of petty squabbling that has only weakened the First Order since he’s been away.

When news broke that a film following the sequels, titled The Hunt For Ben Solo, had been quietly and internally killed, it showed that the fans still had interest in some of the lore set up by the flawed trilogy. The internet exploded with pleas for the project’s continuation, as campaigns were launched through petitions, billboards, and even plane banners. While this may not be the resolution campaigners for the film’s revival had hoped for, it should at least scratch an itch for Kylo Ren fans wanting more. Star Wars: The Fall of Kylo Ren, written by Charles Soule with art from Will Sliney, will be available for comic readers on August 12th.
