James Gunn and Peter Safran’s Superman continues to soar to new heights as the film soars close to $300 million in the domestic market. This comes close to 2022’s The Batman, which earned $369.2 million at the box office by the end of its theatrical release.

For those who continue to chant “Release the Snyderverse,” it appears Superman this go around surpasses Zach Snyder’s 2013 film, Man of Steel, which grossed $291 million. Gunn and Safran’s latest film is also closing in on 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which landed at $330.4 million stateside.

Gunn’s latest effort to show the world the last living son of Krypton isn’t without competition in the market, especially from rival Marvel Studios, which released The Fantastic Four: First Steps, which opened its first weekend with a fantastic reach to $117.6 million domestically and $99 million worldwide.

And the reviews continue to come in glowingly for Corenswet’s rendition of the Man of Steel with The Hollywood Reporter writing, “Corenswet makes an outstanding Superman/Clark Kent, his performance loaded with self-irony, charm and poignant vulnerability as he wrestles with doubts as to whether his mission to do good and protect human kind was based on a lie.”

Superman is in theatres now!
