Time waits for no man, not even a composer! It’s officially been confirmed that Academy Award-winning film composer Michael Giacchino will provide the score for Taika Waititi’s upcoming film adaptation of Klara and the Sun. This is their fourth collaboration together, following Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Love and Thunder, and Next Goal Wins.

Michael Giacchino is a man who needs no introduction. As one of the most beloved and in-demand film composers in the industry, Giacchino has consistently delivered scores each year since 2004. Giacchino is best known for his frequent collaborations with directors Brad Bird, J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, J.A. Bayona, and Pete Docter.

He is also recognized for his prolific partnerships with Marvel Studios and Pixar, earning an Academy Award for Best Original Score for Up. Giacchino’s 2026 calendar is already packed, with confirmed scores for Destin Daniel Cretton’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day (marking his 8th project for Marvel Studios), David Robert Mitchell’s The End of Oak Street, and Brad Bird’s Ray Gunn (his 6th collaboration with Bird). For 2027, Giacchino is confirmed to score the animated musical High in the Clouds, working alongside Beatles legend Paul McCartney. And while not confirmed, Giacchino is expected to return to score The Batman: Part II, Incredibles 3, and Coco 2.

His 2026 may not be over yet either, with rumors circulating that Giacchino will score J.J. Abrams’ The Great Beyond, which would be their first collaboration since Star Trek Into Darkness in 2013. IMDb currently lists Michael Giacchino as one of 8 composers for Tony Gilroy’s upcoming music drama Behemoth!.
