Cartoon Network has given animation fans their first look at the studio’s upcoming animated film, as the official teaser and logo for Craig Before The Creek have been released.

Craig Before The Creek is a prequel to the Cartoon Network original series Craig of the Creek, focusing on Craig’s first adventure in the titular Creek. The synopsis reads: “Craig Williams is the shy, new kid in town. Little does he know, he'll soon set off on the biggest adventure he could ever dream of: treasure maps, pirate ships, and a villain who wants to destroy the Creek.”

Craig of the Creek is a two-time Daytime Emmy-nominated series created by Matt Burnett and Ben Levin, which began airing in 2018. The series has been praised for its black-centric stories and authenticity, being one of Cartoon Network’s most culturally diverse shows to date. It was announced last year that the series was canceled due to the Warner Bros-Discovery merger and will end with its fifth and final season, which is currently on hiatus. The series also spawned a preschool spinoff, Jessica’s Big Little World, starring Craig’s younger sister, Jessica, which began airing episodes on Cartoon Network’s “Cartoonito” block earlier this year. Despite positive reception, this spinoff has also been canceled due to Warner Bros-Discovery wanting to shift away from preschool cartoons. The show is expected to air its final episodes next year.

Craig Before The Creek will premiere on Cartoon Network this December. You can check out the teaser here:
