After Supergirl’s surprise cameo in James Gunn’s Superman movie, it’s no big surprise that a teaser poster has followed. House of the Dragon star’ Milly Alcock has taken up the cape in this latest incarnation of Kara Zor-El, and there’s a small preview of her as the hero. Although her face is covered.
The teaser poster also shows the super suit half covered up, graffiti and Supergirl is drinking something unidentifiable Gunn has stated in interviews that his version of Supergirl will be less cookie cutter, and more girls gone wild.
“Kara was on Krypton. She was on a piece of Krypton that drifted away from the planet and she lived there for the first 14 years of her life in a horrible situation where she watched everyone around her die. So, she’s a much harsher and more f*cked up Supergirl than you’ve been used to thus far.” - James Gunn

The massive departure from previous live-action versions of Supergirl isn’t diverging from the source material. Gunn is basing his version on the Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow graphic novel series. The arc was popular with a lot of DC fans and has a good chance of producing a great script. Eve Ridley from Netflix’s The Three Body Problem is reportedly playing Ruthye, and Jason Momoa is rumoured to have a cameo as the bounty hunter Lobo.
Supergirl is currently due for release on June 26th 2026, so there’s a long wait before we’ll see it on screen.
