The official Star Wars X account just released the first full-length trailer for The Acolyte and from the looks of things fans of the galaxy far, far away are in for a treat this June. The trailer opens with a Jedi Master instructing a room of younglings, saying that they must sense the world around them with the force and that they can not trust their eyes. The scene is cut with a figure in purple robes walking up to a village. One child says that they see balance, another life, and a third sees fire.

We then see another Jedi fighting the hooded figure in hand-to-hand combat, after a moment the scene cuts to another group of Jedi with one of them saying that someone has been killing Jedi. A flash of scenes appears after; a group of Jedi overlooking a misty forest, a Wookie in Jedi robes, and the Jedi master from the start of the trailer using a mind trick. After a few more fast cuts the audience is met with a lightsaber flying through the air, slicing trees, and heading towards a group of Jedi who are immediately knocked off their feet.

Based on what we saw in this first trailer it appears that the titular Acolyte will be hunting Jedi for reasons unknown. But it looks like The Acolyte will take a more mature approach, akin to Andor.  The series will mark the end of the High Republic and the peak of the Jedi Order based on the quote presented in the trailer, “in an age of light a darkness rises.” Fans should be on the edge of their seats until June 4th when the first two episodes will premiere on Disney+.
