The Muppets might be making their VR debut, if the rumors are to be believed. According to Disney fansite LaughingPlace, the Jim Henson Company is considering bringing MuppetVision 3D, one of the last projects of founder Jim Henson, to virtual reality. CEO Lisa Henson has reportedly stated that the attraction, “has been documented with VR cameras.” Of course, all of this comes from a fansite with no other apparent sources, so be sure to take most of this with a grain of salt. Regardless, it will be interesting to see if this is true or not, and how the film would work in a VR environment.
MuppetVision 3D was an attraction at Hollywood Studios in Disney World from 1991 to 2025, and at Disney California Adventure at Disneyland from 2001 to 2014. There are no apparent plans to rerelease the attraction, though Disney was apparently preserving the film. If the project is rereleased in VR, it could be a good means of reintroducing it to new audiences around the world. Of course, this is all just speculation at the moment, until we get an actual confirmation from the people at the Jim Henson Company. With that being said, we will remain on the lookout for any additional information regarding frogs.
