It is being reported that Matt Reeves’ The Penguin has completed filming. The Colin Farrell lead spinoff series from Reeves’ The Batman began filming in March 2023; however, it was postponed due to the SAG-AFTRA strike. After negotiations were completed, the series reconvened filming during the holiday season.

Farrell’s rendition of Oswald ‘The Penguin’ Cobblepot in the Robert Pattinson lead film on the newbie years of the Caped Crusader was acclaimed by critics and fans alike. The makeup work the actor, underwent to portray Gotham’s Gangster stunned viewers to question whether Farrell was behind the role.

The Penguin series is presumed to pick up after the events of The Batman film and delve further into the seedy underworld of Gotham City. Other cast members include Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, Carmen Ejogo, Francois Chau, Theo Rossi and David H. Holmes.

The series length is eight episodes and is written by showrunner and executive producer Lauren LeFranc. Matt Reeves will executive produce through 6th & Idaho, and Dylan Clark will do it through the production company, sharing the same name. Farrell himself will also executive produce along with starring in the lead role. Daniel Pipski will direct the first three episodes.
