Tom Hiddleston Teases 'Avengers: Doomsday'

The next installment to the Avengers films, Doomsday (2026), is coming, and many are wondering what the plot specifics of the film will be. While the plot is being kept tightly under wraps, one of the actors briefly touched on the subject. On Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Tom Hiddleston discussed his career and current projects, but the conversation took a slight detour to one in particular.
The host brought up Loki’s current place in the MCU. Hiddleston confirmed that Loki “still is” holding the multiverse together. At the end of Loki season two, the titular character is seen at the Citadel at the End of Time, saving the timelines by re-looming them and taking on the task of watching over time forever. That sort of power would be attractive to any major villain to target, and as Doomsday (2026) will involve multiple universes, it will be extremely relevant.

The actor continued, “I mean, we haven't seen him do anything different. See, this is where I run out of rope, Jimmy. We always do this dance, you and me. I can exclusively tell you...I will be there. There was the big thing they released of all the names on the back of the chairs, I didn't know, I was like, 'Oh I guess I'm in the movie.' In fairness, I did know I was in the movie. But I am so used to not knowing 'I'm in the movie.'" Hiddleston will be involved in the film, and as far as we know, he’s still watching over the multiverse.

Avengers: Doomsday is currently on track to hit theaters on December 18, 2026. The film will be set 14 months after Thunderbolts* (2025), bringing together multiple hero groups across several universes to face Doctor Doom. The cast is massive, including Robert Downey Jr., Pedro Pascal, Simu Liu, Rebecca Romijn, Florence Pugh,Tom Hiddleston, Chris Hemsworth, Winston Duke, and Sir Patrick Stewart. It is the third installment of Phase Six of the MCU. The Russo Brothers are serving as the film’s directors, and Stephen McFeely and Michael Waldron are serving as the writers.
