A sequel to 28 Years Later (2025), subtitled The Bone Temple, is already in the post-production phase, and it just received its first official trailer! Familiar faces are present in the trailer, including the infected man Samson, Dr. Kelson, Spike, Jamie, Sir Jimmy Crystal, and the cult of Jimmys. The trailer opens with a teaser of Kelson’s monument area, full of bone structures. It moves on to a parallel image, showing a train full of people in one moment, and then the same train, overgrown, broken down, and empty, in the next. The Bone Temple will focus more on the survivors of the Rage Virus epidemic, illustrating how much of a threat one can become when societal rules and morals are abandoned and power becomes an easy thing to grasp.
The Bone Temple (2026) will be the fourth installment in the 28 Days Later Universe. Its predecessor, 28 Years Later (2025), brought the audience further into the future, showing how society adapted to the presence of the Rage Virus. It introduces an evolved Infected who behaves differently from the others and a pregnant Infected who gives birth to a non-infected child, shaking perspectives on what it means to be one of them. In the end, Spike returns to the mainland and is eventually saved by the cult of Jimmys, bringing the audience to where The Bone Temple (2026) picks up. The turnaround for this film is sharp because it was shot in one overall production with its predecessor.
