It's hard to believe that Revenge of the Sith came out twenty years ago. There was no better way to honor the iconic film than rereleasing it in theaters, which Disney has been doing for various film anniversaries. This film and saga were not loved like they are now, and many fans hated them. Whatever your thoughts, it was an important saga that shows Anakin's descent to the Dark Side.

I was 9 when this movie came out. I grew up with the prequels, so they will always hold a special place in my heart. Revenge Of The Sith is by far the best out of the other two films in this trilogy. It gives us some of the most heartbreaking moments, and also one of the coolest fights in all of Star Wars. The Anakin and Obi-Wan fight on Mustafar is one of the best fights in the series. It’s a fight between two brothers, who are now on opposite sides. It shows the struggle Obi-Wan went through, having to fight Anakin. In the end, he did what had to be done and lived with it forever.

The movie also shows us the fall of the Republic and the birth of the Galactic Empire. We see how the Jedi are executed, or forced into hiding, thanks to Order 66. We see how Palpatine was able to manipulate and use that to his advantage to take control. It also shows why Yoda was in exile all those years on Dagobah, and why it was so important for Luke to become a Jedi.  Not only does it set up the original trilogy, but it also shows us how one of the most iconic villains of all time was created.

Not only was the duel between Anakin and Obi-Wan heartbreaking, but so was the demise of Padme and Anakin’s relationship. She saw the good in him, until the end, even if he didn’t deserve it. His fear of losing her contributed to her death when he went to the Dark Side. There were parallels between the two of them throughout the movie. At one point, we see Padme looking out her window of her appointment, and Anakin looking out the window of the Jedi Temple, two lovers on opposite sides. In the end, Anakin’s fear, hatred, and turn to the Dark Side didn’t save Padme.

Now, don't get me wrong, the movie has its issues, which lie mostly with the dialogue. Revenge Of The Sith definitely has the best dialogue out of all the prequels. Even though it’s not always the best, you can still find some great memes based on it online. That, however, does not mean the blame should've been placed on the actors. They worked with what they had and did a good job. Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor did not deserve the vitriol they got for their roles in the prequels. Luckily, the kids who grew up with the prequels are now adults, and are giving the love and praise the actors rightfully deserve. Looking back, there is absolutely no one else who could embody the roles of Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi. They were perfectly cast, and it would be hard for someone else to live up to their iconicness.

The movies will always be special to me.  While the original trilogy will always be the best, the prequels are a close second. I am so glad they are getting the love they so deserve, all these years later. Revenge Of The Sith is especially special, and I am so glad I got to see it in theaters for its 20th anniversary.
