If there’s one thing the Disney era of Star Wars is known for, it’s guest appearances. They range from a casual passing-by to critical story events. Commander Cody in The Bad Batch. Luke Skywalker in The Mandalorian. Even Dr. Cornelius Evazan made an appearance in Rogue One.

This week on The Bad Batch it was Riyo Chuchi’s turn at a comeback. If you don’t remember who Riyo is, she was a character that appeared back in Star Wars: The Clone Wars when Anakin and Obi-Wan came to Pantora, her home world, to resolve an issue on Orto Plutonia. She represented the people of Pantora in the Senate and was often caught between the Jedi wanting to resolve the Talz situation on Orto Plutonia peacefully, and the head of the Pantoran Assembly, who wanted the Jedi and Republic to wipe out the Talz.

She regularly appeared throughout the series, and so her appearance in The Bad Batch, which takes place not long after the end of the Clone Wars as the Republic has been replaced with the Galactic Empire. The Senate, now the Imperial Senate, still exists, and Riyo Chuchi is still the senator from Pantora. She took a page from Padme’s book and took on some matters with her own hands, and side-by-side with Ahsoka Tano went on a rescue mission to bring back the Pantoran Assembly Chairman’s children from the Trade Federation.

Now in the Imperial era, it’s no surprise to see Chuchi taking up a cause that seeks to protect those who have no voice. In her two-episode debut, she took up the cause of providing for the clones that were being replaced by the Empire. In doing so, she wrapped herself up in a plot of manipulation by Palpatine. By the end of the second episode, she promises to continue to fight for the clones, along with Captain Rex and Echo, who takes a leave from the Bad Batch to help. With her close relationship with Ahsoka, it would not be surprising to see the Togruta make an appearance to help Chuchi and the clones, if the show continues to follow Chuchi, Rex, and Echo.
