In Episode 4 of Andor, Luthen Rael’s navigation computer is briefly shown to the audience as he prepares to land on Coruscant after dropping off Cassian Andor on Aldhani. The navigation computer shows everywhere Luthen has been on his Fondor Haulcraft. These seemingly random points can be compared to the larger galaxy map to extrapolate where Luthen Rael has been to. These are some of the notable places.

10. Mimban

The first notable planet on Luthen’s navigation chart is Mimban. This is not surprising as the cunning spymaster is trying to build a larger galaxy-wide network that will eventually become the Alliance to Restore the Republic. It is noteworthy that Tobias Beckett, Han Solo, and Cassian Andor defected from the Empire during the battle on Mimban. Han was a swamptrooper, Tobias was an Imperial captain, and Cassian served as a cook. After Luthen revealed that he knew of Cassian’s Imperial past, Cassian briefly talked about how he was the only survivor of his unit of fifty men.

Luthen was likely gathering intelligence on the Empire’s swamptrooper legion and battle tactics. The Battle of Mimban was one of the bloodiest in the early years of the Empire. Luthen could also be assisting the Mimbanese Liberation Army in their strikes against the Empire. He could also be recruiting disillusioned soldiers to join the Rebellion.

9. Naboo

The incredibly lush planet of Naboo is one of the several locations featured in the navigation computer on Luthen’s Fondor Haulcraft. The peaceful people of Naboo demonstrate independent thinking, not unlike Ferrix. They just need to be pushed into a corner in order to rise up against the Empire. He could have gone there simply to recruit people to the cause.

During the Imperial era, the planet is overseen by Padme Amidala’s former head of security, Quarsh Panaka. Although fiercely loyal to Palpatine, he is one of the less evil Moffs. It is plausible that Moff Panaka was one of Luthen’s informants in the area.

Perhaps Luthen was only in Naboo for Padme’s funeral, joining others like Ahsoka Tano, Bail Organa, and Mon Mothma.

8. Alderaan

Alderaan has always been sympathetic to the Rebel cause up until its destruction by the first Death Star. It is no surprise that Luthen Rael has been to the peaceful planet, perhaps or recruit Alderaanians to strengthen the Rebel network. He could be exchanging information with Bail Organa, whom he could have met through Mon Mothma.

Of note, in Andor Episode 11, Luthen Rael transmitted an Alderaanian ship ID when accosted by the Imperial cruiser

7. Kashyyyk

During the Clone Wars, the Separatists attacked the refineries on Kashyyyk. Later on, the Empire would pillage the lush forest world for its natural resources, such as oil and Wroshyr wood. The Wookiees were enslaved and sold to labor camps like the spice mines of Kessel. Early Rebel freedom fighters like Saw Gerrra would rise up to defend the Wookiees, fighting the Empire head-on.

Luthen Rael could be visiting Kashyyyk in search of Chief Tarful or any surviving Wookiees. Wookiees like Black Kyrrsantan and Chewbacca possess great physical strength and would be perfect fighters in the fledgling Rebel forces.

6. Umbara

The Shadow World, otherwise known as Umbara, is a remote planet that was closed off from the rest of the galaxy and suffered a recession in technological development as a result. This was where Captain Rex saved the 501st legion from Jedi Master Pong Krell in Season 5 of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. After Thrawn’s victory for the Empire, Umbara was ruthlessly mined for its doonium by the Mining Guild for projects like Project Stardust.

By the time Luthen Rael visited Umbara, it would be firmly under Imperial control with a heavy Mining Guild presence. Luthen could have come here to keep tabs on or even disrupt the mining operations. Notably, the Umbarans were staunch allies of the Republic and making them eager candidates for a larger rebellion.

5. Hutt Space

Luthen Rael’s unique role in the Rebellion requires access to resources and information outside the grasp of the Empire. The Hutt Clan and their influence in the underworld put them in the perfect position to provide all of this. It makes sense for Luthen to visit the Hutt homeworld of Nal Hutta and its moon Nar Shaddaa to bargain with the Hutts. Known as the Smuggler’s Moon, Nar Shaddaa is also the perfect hub for Luthen to recruit pirates, smugglers, and bounty hunters to his cause.

Makeb is another possible location in the Hutt Space for Luthen to visit.  As featured in Star Wars: The Old Republic video game, Makeb housed an incredibly rare resource known as isotope-5. Isotope-5 is both radioactive and volatile with gravity-warping properties. Luthen could be searching for the rare substance to modify his Fondor Haulcraft or to sell it for money to fund those lucrative modifications.

4. Glee Anselm

Glee Anselm does not feature a large Imperial battle or underworld market. However, it is the homeworld of Han Solo’s grizzled mentor, Tobias Beckett (played by Woody Harrelson in Solo: A Star Wars Story).

Luthen Rael could be visiting Glee Anselm in search of Beckett. When he was first introduced in Andor, Luthen was looking for heroes, people with the heart and skill needed to combat the Empire. Beckett had a reputation as a smuggler who could lead fighters into small-scale operations like the one on Vandor and Kessel. However, by the time of Star Wars: Andor, Han Solo had killed Beckett at the end of Solo: A Star Wars Story. However, the circumstance surrounding his death is nebulous, known only to a few, like Qi’ra and Han. Beckett’s unconfirmed death could lead many of his associates in the galactic underworld to think of Beckett as missing in action rather than outright dead. This could explain why Luthen was still interested in Glee Anselm and Beckett.

3. Mandalorian Space

Luthen’s navigation computer revealed that he has traveled to the Mandalorian space. The former Death Watch base locations on Zanbar or Mandalorian moon of Concord Dawn are prime locations for the spymaster to visit and recruit fierce warriors to his cause. The Mandalorians have been living under the Empire’s oppression. The ARC pulse generator, which specifically targets the beskar in the Mandalorian armor, created fear and much destruction. The Night of a Thousand Tears decimated much of Mandalore and left it in ruins.

2. Atollon

Luthen was seen visiting with Saw Gerrera, so it is no surprise if he were to meet with other Rebel cells. The navigation computer showed that Luthen has managed to visit Atollon, better known as the location of Chopper Base and the Phoenix Squadron. Words of the Phoenix Squadron’s successes could have reached Luthen, drawing him to gather intel on them. In his search for Jedi and Sith artifacts, he may also come across the creature known as Bendu.

1. Korriban

The desolate planet was a place of immense dark side power with many tombs of ancient Dark Lords of the Sith containing artifacts and holocrons with knowledge of the dark side of the Force.

Why would Luthen visit such a place? The Sith holocrons could allow Luthen to connect and study their ideologies. Of note, a holocron was seen in his emporium of antiquities on Coruscant.

In the Andor episode “One Way Out,” Luthen Rael delivered an impressive monologue about what he had sacrificed for the cause. Each line shone a new light on Luthen’s overall character. In his monologue, Luthen said that he has made his mind a sunless space, condemned to use the tools of his enemy to defeat them, and has given up on all chances at inner peace. Does this mean he has set himself down the path of the dark side? His words, “My anger, my ego, my unwillingness to yield, my eagerness to fight, they’ve set me on a path from which there is no escape,” described qualities of a Sith and the dark side of the Force. His visit to Korriban could point to his being a Force user
