Fans of Ahsoka Tano rejoice! Her new series hits Disney + tomorrow, August 22, with a two-episode premiere! Most fans know Ahsoka from Star Wars: The Clone Wars but she plays an even more important role in the storyline of Star Wars: Rebels. This animated series has unfortunately flown under the radar for many fans but it is so important to the story we are getting in Ahsoka’s upcoming series. While I fully believe that every Star Wars fan should take the time to see Rebels in its entirety, let’s take a look at five episodes that are pivotal to Ahsoka’s story! WARNING This article contains spoilers for Star Wars Rebels!

5. Shroud Of Darkness (S2 E18)

Ahsoka and Anakin

Ahsoka has struggled with her feelings about Anakin turning to the dark side since the execution of Order 66. In this pivotal episode Ezra, Kanan, and Ahsoka travel to a hidden Jedi Temple on Lothal where the three have different visions about their pasts and futures. Ahsoka sees Anakin/Vader and is forced to face the realities of how far Anakin fell when she left the Jedi Order during The Clone Wars. This vision completely changes Ahsoka as a person because she finally comes to terms with her feelings of guilt and sadness.

4. Family Reunion & Farewell (S4 E15 & E16)

This is one of the saddest series finales I have ever seen. After the Ghost Crew experience a great loss they must push on to finish what they started. Ezra sacrifices himself in an attempt to kill Grand Admiral Thrawn and in the final moments of the episode we learn that Sabine has asked Ahsoka to help her track down Ezra. These episodes are pivotal to the new series because they are the catalyst for Ahsoka’s story.

3. Fire Across The Galaxy (S1 E15)

Ahsoka and Chopper

This is the first time that we see Ahsoka appear in Star Wars Rebels. It is revealed that she is the rebel that has been helping Hera and the Ghost Crew under the alias “Fulcrum”. Star Wars: The Clone Wars fans will also recognize the significance of Ahsoka’s alias because it was the name of Anakin Skywalker’s subspace communication frequency.

2. Twilight `Of The Apprentice (S2 E21 & E22)

Ahsoka v Vader

Fans of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s showdown with Darth Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi will really enjoy these episodes. The main focus of these episodes is Ezra and his battle over not succumbing to Darth Maul and the Dark Side. There are so many great things about this episode but the most important moment is when Ahsoka enters into a battle with Vader so that Ezra and Kanan can escape the collapsing Sith Temple. Ahsoka decides to give her life in hopes that if she stays and is crushed then Vader will be crushed along with her.

1. A World Between Worlds (S4 E 13)

Ezra Bridger and Ahsoka Tano

This is one of the most important episodes to watch before the start of Ahsoka. After Ahsoka was killed in Twilight of the Apprentice Ezra finds himself in a plane within the force that allows him to travel back in time. He finds Ahsoka in the last place we saw her and is able to pull her back into the present so that she never dies. This location also seems to be teased in the Ahsoka trailer so we may get to see it again in the new series.
