Disney and Webtoons are teaming up in a new deal. The web-comics app will release 100 new comics starring Spider-Man, Captain America, Darth Vader, Belle and the Beast, and more. The first comic from this new deal will be Marvel’s Amazing Spider-Man, out later this month. That title will be followed by Marvel’s Avengers, Alien, and As Old As Time: A Twisted Tale. A new Star Wars comic written by Jason Aaron will also be released as part of this deal. The new partnership will help Disney reach the increasingly online generations who have grown used to scrolling for entertainment. It also gives Webtoon a much wider reach with beloved characters.

Daniel Fink, who serves as Senior Vice President and head of digital innovation at Disney Consumer Products, assured that there would be no use of AI in the creation of these comics. He explained that “it’s all traditional creative” and will cover a variety of stories, from superhero epics to galaxy-spanning adventures. The Webtoons model allows readers to see the first couple of comics for free. Then, they may purchase in-app tokens to continue reading the story.
